Umbria recognises the typical geographic indication (IGT) of the following wines: “Allerona”, “Bettona”, “Cannara”, “Narni”, “Spello”, “Umbria”.
“Allerona IGT” indicates the production area of white, red and rosé wines in the comunes of Allerona, Castelviscardo and Castelgiorgio; white, red and rosé wines can be produced there.
“Narni IGT” indicates the production area of white, red and rosé wines in the comunes of Attigliano, Giove, Penna in Teverina and partially in the territories of Alviano, Amelia, Calvi dell’Umbria, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina, Montecastrilli, Narni, Orticoli, Sangemini and Terni; white, red and rosé wines can be produced there.
The “Narni” typical indication, with specification of the Ciliegiolo grape variety is reserved to wines obtained by at least 85% of this variety. Cigliegiolo is a local variety, today revalued on all fronts, the object of experiments and research, an essential component for the Colli Amerini wines and produced also in purity.
