Ceramica e Cotto del Croce Costantino
My name is Costantino Del Croce, and I learned this job from my father as a child.
My family has been producing pottery for at least four generations, and today continues that tradition alone.
The shards ficullesi I produce are the result of a daily manual labor that requires skill, attention and dedication.
In fact, the turning, the subsequent application of handles and spouts, drying, glazing and finally infornatura and
cooking processing stages are linked together, with periods of work and expectation that must be respected.
To survive this type of craft you have to do know and allow anyone interested to come close to this work.
The municipality has organized in recent years, with funds from the region of the professional courses to enable young people to learn and I was a teacher.
At the end of the courses I opened my shop students and anyone who would try to work, putting my experience still available.
Whole school trip to Ficulle come to visit my workshop, all kids want to also try to work on the lathe and were fascinated,
see grow as a vessel for a round ball of clay seems almost like magic.

This kind of experience have proved very positive, but we must continue with similar initiatives in the future to continue to sensitize and inform the younger generation.
I hope that this art so poor but important for a small country like Ficulle can with the help of all remain alive with the passage of time.
Throughout the year you can come to visit the shop and see me at work on the lathe, and whoever wants to can try, with my help, to the lathe.
With my student Serena Rosati organized courses turning, contacts you can get more information.
