Orvieto is the heart of Orvietan, the north-west province of Terni, a starting point for tours of art and gastronomy. On the one hand Montecchio Melezzole and Tongs, villages dall’intatta medieval atmosphere among chestnut as far as the eye, and second, through the valley of the Chiani, the castles of Parrano, Fabro, Carnaiola, the Hall: this is also the realm of high-quality beef Chianina (Slow Food).

Bulwarks of a border and are Montegabbione Monteleone, Ficulle city of “broken”, Allerona the nature park of Villalba and his Environment Laboratory, San Venanzo with the Park and the Volcano Park Peglia. Fabro, the Sangallo fort, is now known everywhere for the abundance and delicacy of its white truffles, which every year in November is an exhibition market.

Arisen in defense of the valleys are Castel Viscardo Porano, Prodi, and the Basque Titignano, next to the lake of Corby and the Regional Park of the Tiber.

Orvieto, over the cliff, is a city where the most significant monuments also express the age-old relationship with its famous wine, the ‘Orvieto Classico. We rise buildings, towers and churches, and the well-known within the spectacular Cathedral with frescoes by Signorelli and the unforgettable facade Lorenzo Maitani, and again: the Well of St. Patrick and archaeological sites in the Etruscan and Roman.

Today Orvieto, Cittaslow, did taste his banner creating “Orvieto con Gusto”, a prestigious food and wine event in order to preserve the flavors and knowledge of tradition.
