Orvieto & Lake Corbara

Orvieto Lake CorbaraArrival in Orvieto at 09.00 approx.
Tour of  the city that was described as “high and strange” or called in the past Oinarea (the town where the wine flows); an itinerary among the most important monuments following the trails of its wine history:
St. Patrick’s well, famous for its depth and its particular shape, is a masterpiece of Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, architect of the pope Paul III.
Orvieto Underground, a journey into the cliff, discovering Etruscan, medieval and  Renaissance ruins, up to the present days.
Lunch at Bottega del Buon Vino and visit of “Pozzo della Cava”.
The tour continues in the afternoon, visiting the city with its cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture.
The cathedral  encloses the Eucharistic Miracle and the Chapel of San Brizio, where Luca Signorelli painted the “Last Judgement”.
The tour proceeds leaving the town in the direction of Lake Corbara to visit a winery and its vineyards, including a wine tasting.
Departure in the late afternoon and return to your places of origin.

Montecchio & Orvieto

An ancient village nestled among olive trees.
Tour of the archaeological site of San Lorenzo Valley, an interesting Etruscan/Umbrian necropolis that dates back to the VI-IV century. BC
Technical tour of an olive oil mill and of its Oil Museum.
Lunch / tasting or Visit to a winery with lunch/tasting or visit to an artisan sausage factory with lunch / tasting.
In the afternoon transfer to Orvieto and visit to the Cathedral with the Chapel of San Brizio.

Free time for shopping or for a visit to St. Patrick’s Well.
Departure in the late afternoon and return to your places of origin.

Amelia & Orvieto

Terni & Narni

Terni and NarniArrival in Terni at 09.30 a.m. approx.

Visit of the Marmore waterfalls through different nature trails: it is an artificial, flow controlled waterfall, among the highest in Europe with a jump of 165 metres (541 feet) divided into 3 sections.
Lunch in the restaurant and in the afternoon visit to a winery and its vineyards with wine tasting.

Transfer to Narni for a walk in the old town centre with its main sights:
the Roman bridge of Augustus, the Cathedral of St. Juvenal, Piazza dei Priori, the church of San Domenico.

Return to your places of origin.

Orvieto, the Narrating City

Tour of the Medieval Quarter, the Church of St. Juvenal, the Town Hall and the Church of St. Andrew
Visit to the Regional Wine Promotion Board (Enoteca Regionale) with wine / aperitif
Lunch in a restaurant in the old town with traditional Umbrian dishes.

In the afternoon, guided tour of the Cathedral and the Chapel of San Brizio. Visit of a workshop of local fine ceramic production.

Montegabbione and Ficulle, “Eden of wine”

Tour of “La Scarzuola” and the adjoining Franciscan Monastery
The Scarzuola is the surreal construction designed by Tomaso Buzzi, consisting of buildings grouped into seven theatrical scenes around a Franciscan convent of the XIII century.
Tour of the Castle of Montegiove with its ancient cellars,or Stop over in Ficulle to visit to a pottery workshop.
Lunch in a local winery.
In the afternoon, an unforgettable experience between history and wine production in an ancient local winery, discovering a wine trail that starts in the Middle Ages up to the present day. Wine tasting.

Visit to the Regional Wine Promotion Board (Enoteca Regionale), including a general introduction about wine production in Umbria, a short wine class and wine tasting.
Short visit to the Cathedral and the Chapel of San Brizio
Lunch at a downtown restaurant with a menu dedicated to wine or lunch in a winery.

In the afternoon, transfer to the Amelia area. Stop along the way for a short visit to the Collegiate church of Lugnano in Teverina; the church was built between the eleventh and twelfth centuries.

Visit to a winery and its vineyards with wine tasting.
